Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

the overwhelming majority of the reports from major media outlets on the protests talk about "a handful of anarchists" and such. in reality, we were only a handful compared to the police, who used tear gas (hand-thrown and, at times, air-dropped from helicopters) in residential areas. when we broke through their line at baum and liberty (another under-reported event) they fired on us with rubber bullets. after some searching, i found some decent pictures

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

the so-called LRAD, which was unveiled for domestic crowd control during the protests of the G20 summit in pittsburgh, was Not the smashing success that various agencies have claimed.

the thing is, it didn't really bother me. i didn't notice that it actually did bother people until it had been going off for about a minute and i found myself in a much, much smaller crowd. when i turned around and looked to see where everybody had gone, i noticed that it was younger people - younger than me, anyway - who were running off with their hands covering their ears, and it was all older folks like me who were still near the thing. there's a picture floating around of a somewhat elderly gentleman sitting right in front of the thing and blocking the street. i figure it didn't bug him at all.

to me, it just sounded like a particularly obnoxious siren. i figure i must have lost enough hearing in the higher frequencies over the course of my life that it didn't have the affect on me that it did on folks in their early twenties, for instance (not to mention the effect it must have had on little kids whose crime was apparently staying in their houses). since i pass all my hearing tests at my doctor's office, it seems that this would probably be true for other folks my age and older.

Love is the law, love under will.
